Message from Aramex : Additional Express Service Surcharge

Dear Aramex Customer,

Since the outbreak and spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, as declared by the WHO (World Health Organization), air travel across the world has been severely affected.

With the continued restrictions being imposed by governments around the world, we have seen an adverse effect on airlines with vast amounts of regular scheduled flights being cancelled. In some cases, entire fleets have been grounded. Our focus will always be to ensure business continuity, with limited impact on the international express services we offer to our customers. We have had to adapt quickly and sourced alternative routes and suppliers to continue to serve you, our valued customer.

Airlines still flying have introduced tariff hikes to subsidize for the loss of passengers. We are not opposed to this as it gives us the ability to move parcels internationally rather than have parcels grounded and no flights taking place. As a global organization we will be implementing an additional “Emergency Situation Surcharge” to ensure we continue to deliver a world class service.

As of April 1st, 2020, we will be introducing an additional surcharge of fifteen percent (15%) per AWB on all export and import shipments. This surcharge is a temporary measure and will apply to all shipments such as documents and parcels until further notice. Aramex is in no way over recovering and at best we will only partially cover the increased costs.

While we cannot estimate at this stage how long the global pandemic will endure, we want to assure you that this surcharge is necessary and will only apply while we continue to use alternatives, due to limitations and restrictions in most countries.
